A distillery explosion earlier this year resulted in Robert being caught on fire for approximately 30 seconds and burning over 25% of his body.
Thus far, one of the most challenging aspects of his physical and emotional recovery was enduring debridement and wound care while in the hospital. At this time, the scarring on Robert’s legs, arms, and face are healing well.
He wears his scars proudly as much as possible, but is currently in a phase where he must wear compression garments.
Robert leaves other burn survivors with these encouraging words, “You are a survivor, not a victim, and you can share your strength with the world by talking about your journey and making goals for the future.”
